The Gift Of... Music

Nelson's Bible Dictionary defines music as being vocal or instrumental sounds with rhythm, melody, and harmony. In a sense, technical, that describes it all. Meaning inclusive of more than worship music God also gives joy, filling, and addition to life by the gift that good & special music is. Music with pictures or without I recommend:

Andrea Bocelli: A Night In Tuscany
(1997, Video, 86 Min.)

You do not have to be Italian or speak the language to be moved and bettered by experiencing the enchanting romantic classical and world renowned songs Andrea and featured performers Nuccia Focile, Sarah Brightman, and Zucchero, among others sing.
This video features 'Con Te Partiro', twice. Yes, it is that good. You'll probably recognize most of these songs but new and different better than ever before they'll sound. If you're anything like me you'll feel like reaching out and hugging every one never to let it go.
Russell Watson: The Voice
(2001, CD & Video.)

A new singing star from across the seas,
Manchester, England, in his U.S. premiere.
Reminiscent of the style and with the accompanying class of an Andrea Bocelli only the range in his voice is contemporary, to musical theatre hits, to opera, and very good.
Songs from the Beatles' Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Ave Maria, Volare, and concluding with Puccini. Other songs featuring guests Lea Solanga and Natalie Cole.
Not only is Russell good he is engaging and a showman in his songs and choices. Not over the top or affected the men as well as the women in his very large audience he performed for equally loved him and were at ease and happy enough to approach the stage smiling to greet him and shake his hand at the conclusion.
According to PBS where I saw a fair portion of the concert on 08/07/01 the video contains more footage than shown in their broadcast.
I highly recommend Russell Watson and his 'The Voice' Video, CD, or both.
It is new so consider the date 08/07/01 when looking for it in stores or to order from video retailers.

Andrew Lloyd Webber: The Royal Albert Hall Celebration
(1998, DVD & Video, 126 Min.)

____For Mr. Webber's 50th birthday a corp of his artists, Glenn Close,
Donny Osmond,
Antonio Banderas,
Sarah Brightman,
Lottie Mayor,
Michael Ball,
Teena Marie,
Elaine paige,
a choir,
BoyZone, and others,
as he affectionately calls them during the program,
gathered in London to perform songs from his muscial theatre shows, 'Evita', 'Cats', 'Phantom of The Opera', 'Joseph And the Technicolor Dreamcoat', 'Aspects Of Love', and others. Seeing part of the concert on PBS was like being bitten by the musical theatre bug. It was fabulous. Particularly all of it that I purchased the tape to see what I had missed.

Maranatha! Music: 20 Years of Hope
(1991, Music CD)

After I became a Christian I gave up every other form of music except Elton John and Amy Grant. Maranatha!, Praise and Worship music were like life to me and constantly I played them. 20 Years of Hope is my favorite CD which I've replaced at least twice and given. Favorite song 'You Are My Dwelling Place'. The CD, 20 years of their very best. Late or not I do not dispute it.
Steve Green
the mission (1989)

I am not familiar with any other Steve Green work but it is trul hard for me to
believe the mission can be topped. For some it may be too soft
or thought marshmallowy worship in song but to me it is unfettered, joyous, love and
praise for The Lord and though Steve Green sings for himself and through the experiences
of family and love it feels and sounds as if he sings for me and I never sounded
better or said the right words.

Maybe Steve Green sings for you too.
Try the mission you'll not be disapointed.
